A Lot to Be Thankful For
As Thanksgiving arrives, our farm has a lot to be thankful for. The farm has experienced significant change and growth the past few years. Our leap of faith toward retail agriculture is paying dividends. It's always humbling to think about how many family meals our farm now plays a part in each day. Thanksgiving meal is no exception. I'm interested, but how do I order?
Occasionally I find a potential customer is a little hesitant to order from us for the first time if they have only bought meats from grocery stores. It's human nature to get used to doing things a certain way and be content to keep doing them that way. (Many blog posts could be written about that sentence alone!) Family Farms are Dying?
Is the family farm dying? My blog post, Get Back to Your Roots, introduced the idea that the general public is less connected to farms than ever before. The Superhero of Our Family
'Behind every good man is a great woman,' the old cliché says. If that quote ever applied to anyone, it applied to my grandmother, Lucille Stith. The farm and our farming family simply could not have existed without her. It's hard to overstate her contributions to our family and to the farm; she was truly a superhero. She nurtured 11 children, cooked on an industrial scale and still managed to be warm and loving to us all. I think about her often this time of year. Today
